With the new year just a week away, our planning fr a brand new sport in New York is just about completed. The very popular new sport of Pickle Ball will come to its new home, the JMF Sports Center located at 575 Merrick Avenue in Westbury. This league will be played on weekdays at the Center. Under the direction of our NY AAU Registrar Joe Armenio, NY Metropolitan has been one of the trailblazers for the AAU Urban Initiative. The goal is to bring AAU sports and resources to the areas of our cities that need it the most. Jim Fox, the long time Governor and Boys Basketball Chairman of NY Metropolitan AAU, was elected to the National AAU Board of Directors at the recent AAU Convention that was held in Cleveland in October. We intend to make 2017 our best and most exciting year. Our goal is to reach 10,000 members in AAU Boys Basketball in our district as well as to increase participation in our District Championships by 25% and participation in Nationals by 10%.
