Watkins Receives Prestigious Julius Robinson Vision Award
Cecil Watkins, the Governor and Boys Basketball Chairman of New York
Metropolitan AAU, was selected as the first recipient of the Julius Robinson
Vision Award. This honor was bestowed on Cecil Watkins by the National Boys Basketball
Committee at the 118th Annual AAU Convention that was held in Detroit, Michigan
from October 18-22, 2005. Mr. Watkins was chosen from among thousands of volunteers
associated with AAU Boys Basketball.
Julius Robinson was a long-time coach and
administrator associated with the Southeastern District of AAU. He held many
coaching and administrative positions with AAU during his thirty years of service.
He was loved and respected by everyone with whom he came in contact with during
his tenure.
Mr. Watkins was selected based on his success in developing AAU basketball
in the New York City area for over five decades. Under his leadership, New York
AAU Boys Basketball has grown into one of the largest and most successful in
the entire country.
Mr. Watkins is respected throughout the country for his knowledge
and leadership in the game of basketball. In addition to his work with AAU, Cecil
is the CEO of National Pro-Am City Leagues, which is a national organization
that develops both players and referees for the NBA.

a respected leader as the AAU Governor and Boys Basketball Chairman here in New
