First
NY Metropolitan District Member Recruited by Division 1 University in Volleyball
Patricia Vernon (Venom
Sports) has become the first NY Metropolitan District member to be recruited
by a Division 1 university in volleyball by signing with Temple University.
Although she is only in her 4th year of playing volleyball, Patricia has made
her mark in the sport. She is a 3 year NYS Section 1 All League & and All
Section player and a 2 year NYS All State player. The pinnacle of her sports
career to date is her signing with Temple University, a D1 school in Philadelphia,
PA.

Her
father, RA Vernon, is hoping to use Patricia’s
success in the sport to promote AAU
Volleyball within the NY Metro District. Our district has always been known
for basketball and that is great, RA Vernon said, but many girls and their parents
do not know that AAU has volleyball too. And more importantly, most Division
1 schools also offer full scholarships for talented volleyball players as well
(there is also money available at the D2 level too). I plan to open many eyes
to this fact and show them that the process is very easy!
